Trump Chooses 7 People To Receive Presidential Medal of Freedom

President Donald Trump has announced the first seven Americans who he will present the Presidential Medal of Freedom. The list includes entertainers, NFL players, and Sen. Orrin Hatch, who is retiring after more than 40 years in the senate. 

Some of the medals are being awarded posthumously. Trump will honor baseball player Babe Ruth, singer Elvis Presley and the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia with medals. 

The Presidential Medal of Freedom will also be presented to Miriam Adelson, a doctor and wife to Sheldon Adelson, who owns several casinos in Las Vegas and Republican Party donor.  

A medal will also be given to former Dallas Cowboys quarterbacks Roger Staubach and Alan Page.

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the nation's highest honor that can be given to a civilian. Past recipients of the honor include; former Vice President Joe Biden, singer Aretha Franklin, Mother Teresa and former United Kingdom Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher.
